Feedbacks to HOFA-Akustik
“I have bought a whole acoustic kit back in 2010 when I got into mixing and mastering. 8 years later it remains the best investment I have made. I could move all the treatment into my new mixing room in my new studio 2 years ago and I immediately felt at home. These acoustic elements are great because they are sonically very efficient, they are removable and they are built to last! Oh, they also look very good by the way!”
“As a saxophone-player, my rehearsal room has to sound as natural as possible and has to be dry enough for studio-recordings. Daniel Burger from HOFA-Akustik explained the effect of the modules and supported me with a 3D-Modell. The calculated values showed a reverberation time of about 0,3 s. […].
The clear acoustics make it possible to work really accurate on my Saxophone-sound, which is the most important thing for a musician.
I really like HOFA’s company philosophy and the value for money and I can definitely recommend the HOFA acoustic modules.”
“I worked in a small, quadratic 16 m² room before I moved into my new studio. HOFA-Akustik measured and planned my new studio, and it was really worth it! Also, the employees are cool, they always help you immediately. But the most important thing is that HOFA works together with a sheltered workshop. That should definitely be supported.”

„As a classical percussionist, I need a studio room which sounds as natural as possible. That‘s the only way to show the different tonal colors and timbres of my marimba, vibraphone, timpani and other percussion instruments. And of course I want to have a balanced sound while preparing for my concerts – so I charged HOFA with the measurement of my room. The measurements looked ambitious, so I ordered and installed Basstraps, Diffusors and a Curtain with some scepticism. What can I say? The sound exceeds all expectations, my instruments sound marvellous! The clear acoustics allow me to work with the finest nuances and you can hear that on the recordings. I‘m really happy and I can definetely recommend HOFA.“
Stefan Weinzierl, drummer and multi-percussionist
“I primarily produce and mix electronic music in my studio and also hold workshops about music production. When I moved to a new room this year, good acoustics were really important to me. Since the issue is really big and complex, I decided to look for help.
I found HOFA, and after sending some mails and important data about my room to them I quickly received a 3D-room-plan of my studio and I was able to start with the buildout directly.
The delivery of the modules was really fast! The support service was always available – no matter if via mail or phone. I’m really happy with the result.
If I need help with acoustics again, I’ll definetely ask HOFA.”

“As DJ, singer, songwriter and producer I’m working on the perfect sound everyday. The acoustics of a room plays a major role in the process. After the reconstruction of my studio I asked HOFA to equip my room with several acoustic modules. The result is remarkable, the sound is more balanced and undistorted. The delivery and assembling of the modules was quick and reliable and both the sound and the look of my new “soundcave” in black & cream inspire me once more everyday.”

“Regarding the acoustics, the classrooms in our music school were in a very critical state. Several students and teachers complained about the long reverberation time. Subsequently we consulted HOFA-Akustik. They made acoustics measurements and planings and sent us a comprehensive report with an intelligent approach. We implemented the suggested HOFA absorbers in order to improve the acoustics. The feedback from our students and teachers were highly positive. The impact of the absorbers impressed us. The staff of HOFA-Akustik always gave us capable advice and support. Therefore we continued the collaboration and assigned further steps to improve the acoustics.”

After the renovation with the help of HOFA, I have now exactly what I was looking for – a big control room with perfect acoustics for mixing und mastering. As a multi-instrumentalist, I have the flexibility to vary the acoustic modules in the frames to adapt the acoustics to the characteristics of the instruments.
I also equipped my recording room with HOFA acoustic modules. Now you can record everything here, from an acoustic drumset to other acoustic instruments. With two mobile walls, I can also build a vocal booth.
I’m really impressed and I’d like to say thank you for the professional assistance. The room planning, the acoustic measurement and the support are unique.”
“I’m a synthesizer sound designer and film score composer. The HOFA acoustic modules do exactly what they promise. It’s really important for me that I can judge my sound exactly. The Absorbers and Basstraps definitely convinced me. Thanks a lot!”
“I love to make music and I also listen to music with much passion. Furthermore, I’m trying to understand audio technology and engineering (with the HOFA courses). So I decided to rearrange my living room.
I use it as a rehearsal-, mixing- and listening-room at the same time, truly a big challenge!
My goal was to optimize the room for the different purposes. Not an easy task, because the demands at the room acoustics are a little bit different. But we found a great sounding compromise, which is even usable really flexible.
Due to several HOFA Basstraps, two HOFA Acoustic Curtains and some HOFA Absorbers, I now have different acoustical conditions in only one room.”
“Dear HOFA Team!
Thank you very much for the great consulting, planning and realization of my new favourite place. The acoustics are awesome – finally the lowend is cleaned up and the high frequencies are clear. Also the silence in the studio is breathtaking! Last but not least, the design of the modules is a real eyecatcher. See you soon! Best regards!”
Tom Dams (Studio Forstmehren)
“Each step of construction – from selecting the right materials to choosing the best means of execution – was then carried out according to strict acoustically designed specifications. At the same time, the finished studio rooms should also offer maximum acoustic variability – for the different acoustic requirements of different productions. Thus, acoustic construction was finalized in partnership with HOFA-Akustik, as their acoustic systems allow for utmost flexible room acoustics.
Within very short time, the two largest rooms can be transformed from ‘bone dry’ (about 0,7 sec reverberation time) into ‘Great Pyramid of Giza’ (about 6 sec reverberation time). Sound sources still remain as life-like and unadulterated as possible within the room – be it for recording, mixing or mastering.”
Dominik Bauer & Marcus Theinert (jaM’in – studio)
“The HOFA team was involved in the planning of our studio acoustics right from the start of the construction phase. They created a detailed acoustic concept and gave us many useful advices how to build up our studio and the team was always reachable for us. Thanks for that!
We chose the HOFA acoustic modules because we are very flexible with them. So we can change the acoustics just as we need or want it. Great system! Furthermore the cost-benefit ratio is very good.
Thank you for your great job!”

“With Hofa product I found great combination of profesional acoustic quality and really nice look and design, which is also important. And thats all for fair price!”
Tomas Kaspar – Kobdzey studio
“Dear HOFA-Akustik Team,
thanks very very much for the great consultation on the phone and the helpful tips in advance. Everything went well and you can descript the excess profit on the room acoustic but to feel it everyday, it’s just an enjoyment.
Watching and hearing concerts is my passion and it happend to create, under this aggravating circumstances of an almost square room with a high reverberation time, with these modules and basstraps an precise Sound in the middle/high and especially in the Low-End.
The result is truly amazing!
Keep it up!“
„Like all products by HOFA, the diffusors are first-rate! I’ve just installed them and am perfectly satisfied.”
Peter Lützelberger – PhonoPhono
„I own a hi-fi shop in Berlin. Since some years we do our presentations in a reonvated appartement in Berlin. One of the rooms was in no good acoustic condition (…) The high room was prone to a reverberating sound, there were resonances between 60 and 90 Hz.
(…) The room is “just like new”! It looks more convenient and elegant and much lighter. Talking about sound – the room treated by HOFA is another world. The low end is so fast and dry – our hi-fi units sound better by far.
(…) We are going to optimize another listening room. Since the HOFA elements look so much better than our previous absorbers, we change all our old elements into modules by HOFA. We received many positive feedbacks and are happy to have chosen HOFA!”
Peter Lützelberger – PhonoPhono
“I’m absolutely happy!
It sounds more precise, spatial and clean than before, and I can assess speakers now because I hear the speakers and not the room. The low end has taken shape and is much cleaner than it ever was.”
Klangvilla Leipzig und Ton & Lichtspiel
“I chose HOFA because of the excellent and noncommital consulting service in the planning phase. My studio is in a rental property, so I wanted to keep the acoustic arrangements mobile. Even if I have to move, I have financial planning reliability with the HOFA modules. […]
The positive effect for me after the room correction with the HOFA modules is clearly the working at a low sound level. I can work longer without tiring my hearing.
A first mix in the new rooms clearly showed after a check on various speakers that investing in HOFA modules was the right thing to do!”
“Both in the control room and the recording room we acchieved a minimization of reverberation times and standing waves. On top of
room mode reduction by means of basstraps, floating floor and inclined surfaces the HOFA elements complement perfectly. Besides they look really good, and one or the other capo finds a new favourite spot :-)
Finally we’re able to go through long rehearsal and recording sessions without straining our ears. […] Top. Thanks, HOFA.”

“Cool Stuff I am absolutely enthused by your service – can’t wait to work in the studio.
Mattias Karlsson Sjöberg
“We have a studio for teaching all kinds of music production. Inside we record tutorials for software. So the main aim with the acoustic panels have been to find a great and natural vocal sound when explaining.
We bought HOFA when we needed something that sounded great AND looked great. Since the studio is filled with natural windowlight we wanted to combine white and grey colors. We wanted it to look and feel like a normal studio, but almost inverted.
We’re very pleased with the sound. The panels balance up for the huge windows and sucks up all the bouncing echoes we had at first. And we’re super pleased with the looks as well. It looks professional and natural.”

“The cooperationship in this project was professional and technically perfect. I am grateful to the HOFA company, especially Jonas Schira. He had always lent an ear on this project and did everything in due time. Furthermore the logistics made a great job.” (Erik Bilic)

“We wanted to combine design and acoustics and also present a product with optimum value for money to our customers and partners. In the end we went for HOFA and are absolutely content.
We also treasure the corporate philosophy of HOFA and the close and trouble-free collaboration.”

"… I primarily trusted your competence and your know-how and I’m really happy with the results. You also made a “remote diagnosis” of the room…"
"I have several HOFA-absorbers, -diffusers and -bass traps in use.
Since then, the sound in my control room has improved noticeably. Finally, real mixing is possible.
I can only recommend that you buget some money for room acoustics. With HOFA acoustic modules you get true value for money. Using the HOFA frames, you remain flexible till you found the ideal position for the various modules.
A great idea!!"
"We really worried about the acoustics in our control room, it was clearly “audible” that there was something wrong. We couldn´t afford a costly reconstruction of acoustics experts and so we found HOFA.
The HOFA diffusors are very versatile and relatively inexpensive. It was easy to get the midrange under control with the installation of 25 diffusors. In case of reconstruction or relocation it´s fairly easy to uninstall and transport the modules. We´re absolutely happy and hear a lot better now;-)"
“I would like to thank you expressly for your excellent service, profound counseling and planning. After a long time, I had at last the feeling to meet real service competence.”
My studio sounds great thanks to Hofa!”
Especially the drums have gotten a new “liveliness”, you can locate the single signals easily and notice the details, which have gotten lost in a kind of “undefined sound mush”
before. In short, I haven’t expected such a big difference. :-)”
“The sound came out monsterously well. I definitely recommend these acoustic modules.”
Asger Christensen, Aarhus Lydstudios, Aarhus, Denmark
"For a long time here at Aarhus Lydstudie (Aarhus Sound Studio), we’ve been looking for a professional, affordable and beautiful acoustic solution for our main tracking room. We found that with the HOFA-Diffusor! We now have 20 HOFA-Diffusors and love how our room sounds bigger and better."
Andreas Peter Zweibrücken
"I would like to give you a positive feedback about your bass traps.
Several of them are now in my classrooms and in my studio.
They’re very flexible and improve the acoustics noticeably.
In time I’m going to buy some more."
Rainer Maria Ehrhardt
“Although my self-made speaker cab offered a quite good sound with all the Basotect and foam modules, there was no precise high-end, which could not be achieved despite of very good pre-amps and expensive channel strips by VIP. And this clear high-end is important for vocals to make sure that they will be understood at low volume, too. After my speaker place had been measured detailed by an exceedingly competent and kindly employee of HOFA-Akustik, it has taken just a few hours of work to adjust my room perfectly with HOFA modules. Not only the missing high-end is back, even a slight rumbling bass, thanks to the bass traps, is completely gone. 2000 € that have paid off.”
Rainer Maria Ehrhardt
First chairman of the Association of German speakers
“I’m very happy with the sound achieved by the HOFA-Modules.
The low frequencies are very clear now, while the diffusors retain a lively sound in my recording room, which is very suitable for drum recordings.
Thanks also for the easy pick-up at yours!”
“A short Feedback – the modules are finally hanging on the wall! […]
The localization in the stereo image is fantastic. I can hear where the singers were positioned on stage – which was impossible before because of the undefined sound in my room.
Before I put the modules in the room, the high frequencies were very sharp and nasty, but now the monitors sound well-balanced.
That’s how it’s supposed to be. And they are also good looking :-) “
"We are very pleased with your modules; acoustics in our auditory space have improved very much.
Many thanks for your effort and kind regards!"
I’m very satisfied with the tonal characteristics of the room. At the moment I try different types of miking.
"Hello Mr. Schira,
thank you very, very much for this competent consultation!
Best regards from Telgte!"
“Thank you very much for the amazing consultation by Jonas Schira and the update on the acoustic elements for my new studio. I’m completely satisfied with the result, I’ve always wanted my working place as it is now! I’m stoked on the effect an optimized room got on audio monitoring and producing. The sound pattern sounds cleaned up and more acurate, auditory spaciousness and the ratio of the bass are way better to evaluate. You could say it’s a masterplugin for space ;-)
Furthermore the elements do look good and because of the wood and cotton they create a pleasant atmosphere. Perfect! “
“It’s really amazing, what these pieces can do. The combination shown in the photo is my favourite so far, but I only tested a few options of the possibilities yet ;-)”
"I’d like to thank you very much for your great service. The studio is running for 3 weeks now and is working perfectly. The acoustics is extremely precise and sounds exactly the way I hoped it would do."
Fredrik Andersson, Drummer, Amon Amarth, Norway
"I am the drummer in the Swedish metal band Amon Amarth, and lately I have experienced problems with too much low-end in live situations. When looking for different solutions I found out about the HOFA Basstraps. I put one Baby Basstrap next to my Drumset which I also use as a stand for different equipment, I also put a couple of Baby Basstraps underneath my drum riser too to prevent low-end to build up where I sit.
The Basstraps work very well!"
AUDYVID GmbH sound & design, Aicha vorm Wald, Bavaria
“Shortly after the relocation of our studio the question about the new acoustics in the listening- and recording rooms came up. We were searching for a modular system which would enable us to flexibly react to different recording situations. HOFA acoustic modules provided the perfect solution for us.
Our team is very happy with the modules’ sonic quality. We can nothing but recommend the HOFA modules.
Thanks a lot for the very helpful planning and consultation during the preliminary stages.”
the acoustic modules have arrived on Monday

Jochen Sachse, Regie B, HOFA-Studios, Karlsdorf
The mouse was to blame.
For four years I was reasonably happy with a hybrid acoustic setup consisting of a suspended ceiling with multiple layers of Basotect and about 30 HOFA-acoustic modules. Then a little mouse died somewhere in the ceiling, untraceable between the layers of Basotect. Anyone who does not know how that smells can be considered lucky.
As I was only “reasonably” satisfied with the setting in Controlroom B, I decided to redesign the acoustic setup in order to be much more flexible. This is due to the fact, that I prefer recording in the Controlroom and use our recording rooms only for the big stuff like drums or bigbands.
So, why preach wine and drink water?
About 35 frames, 50 absorbers, 20 diffusors and 16 basstraps later, my “acoustic world” was as right as rain. Finally I had what I wanted: a perfekt link of midrange and high end via well dosed high mid frequencies.
For mixing I use the same setup as for vocal recordings. When recording guitars or percussion I simply replace 5 or 6 absorbers with diffusors. So I get euphonic recordings with the right ambience and scarcely use EQ or FX.
A few words of advice:
- Horizontally installed frames are more practical, because modules can be changed seperately. With vertically installed frames you always have to remove the module on top first.
- Horizontally installed frames offer more useful “shelf-space”.
- When your place your bits and pieces like adapters, tools or picks on those “shelves” they are always at hand.
"Kudos for your acoustic modules! The basement room where I´m currently recording and mixing, is – as so often – far from being perfectly suited for this purpose. The size of 18m2 is somehow okay, but the very low ceiling height of 2.05 m is acoustically problematic.
The enormous change that results from the combination of bass traps, absorbers and diffusers was noticed immediately by musicians and laymen alike and makes the room sound more manageable. Recording a speaker, the basstraps make the acoustics nice and dry, for strings and guitar the diffusors make it “airy”. And most importantly – always overlooking the narrow home recording budget – you remain flexible! Whether you use the HOFA-Frames on the wall or – as you can see on the picture – with a homemade “Change Wall”, you can use the modules for different purposes and effect the sound specifically according to your needs – what more could you want?
With any luck I may soon move my “studio” in larger spaces. Then the modules are still valuable, because not every room has to be set up completely, but a basic configuration of modules and frames can be used depending on the purpose – great idea! Sure, for a drastic effect you need some modules and in total it´s not inexpensive – but for me it was worth every cent.”
Mark Schwarzmayr, Musician and Producer
"I consider acoustics an often underestimated topic. You´d rather think of using another plugin to improve your recordings. If you ask users for their planning and budgets for room acoustic measures it often ends in egg cartons or pyramid foam.
I was looking for partition walls to isolate a brass-section and came across the HOFA-Basstraps. The modular concept convinced me completely. A soundwall is built quickly with eight basstraps. With just little effort the basstraps are placed in the corners and the room´s ready for drum recordings. You can also use them as laptop or preamp-stands – the elegant black pillars are more than only absorbers.
After the bass traps had been in use for a few days I was fully convinced, and the next order went to HOFA-Akustik: More bass traps, and now also frames with mid absorbers.
The money I put in the acoustics, I could hear immediately during my next recordings."
Ralf Haas, The Convertibles, Luxemburg
"After our rehearsal/recording room was done, we found after the first band practice that it was far from being acoustically optimal. On the internet we came across HOFA-Akustik.
After a free consultation with Mr. Sachse, we put some bass traps in the corners, what eliminated the endless reverberation. Speech intelligibility, however, left something to be desired, what we could improve using 6 HOFA frames with diffusors.
The advice was perfect and the acoustic modules are effective and cost-efficient."
“I purchased the HOFA acoustic modules, because my small studio room is pretty empty and music is played back with a lot of ambience. Hearing and evalutating music was very difficult.
I also found both value for money and design very attractive.
The installation of the modules is simple and – without exaggeration – the acoustics has improved phenomenally.
For my liking the acoustics is perfect – nice and dry and balanced.
"I have been careless of my studio-acoustics for a long time. I think, everybody knows the notion of buying a 1000€ mike or a fancy tube compressor and getting some real and concrete value.
That’s what I did and worked for years in rooms with nasty pyramid foam, that absorbed high frequencies but made the room sound very unbalanced. But man is a creature of habit and I continued adding high frequencies to my tracks…
One day I decided to repaint the walls, and the idea of installing the hideous foam again was agonizing.
So I looked for a top-quality acoustic solution and came across HOFA, a small likable company offering high-quality modules at a reasonable price. All staff members were extremely friendly and patient and helped me a lot to find the right selection of modules.
You’ll find no diffusors with a better value for money. The modules are wrought immaculate and look beautiful. In combination with the absorbers and basstraps you can “save” any room. "
I installed the modules and was really stunned by the difference. All audible flutter echoes are gone, the room sounds “tight” and both open and natural. I feel much more comfortable than before, because the whole thing looks fantastic on top.
I think, that’s the real difference – never forget, that you also hear with your eyes:-)"
Aiko Rohd (Producer/Composer for Xavier Naidoo, Yvonne Catterfeld, Vicky Leandros, Karel Gott)
"The acoustic modules from HOFA offer great quality at a very fair price. Combining absorbers and diffusers the acoustics in my already good sounding room improved significantly.
Because of their easy installation the modules are also very flexible. In case of renovation or relocation they are really easy to remove and transport. Awesome system, fair price and good service. What more could you want?"
