For a lively sound in the room

HOFA Diffusors are used wherever optimum room acoustics are required, such as in recording studios, hi-fi rooms, home theaters or for home recording.

This is how HOFA Diffusors work

A HOFA Diffusor is built according to the QRD principle (Quadratic Residue Diffusor) and is therefore designed for ideal sound diffusion. Each Diffusor is an effective element for optimizing room acoustics. For perfect and symmetrical diffusion in your room, you can also combine four diffusors into one large QR diffusor.

Absorption & diffusion

HOFA Diffusors are often used in combination with our absorbers and basstraps. All three elements are essential components of a controlled room sound.

In the HOFA Frame, absorbers and diffusors can be combined in any way – allowing you to achieve impressive variability in room acoustics with just a few adjustments. And mounting on walls and ceilings is remarkably easy.

On the Audio Examples page, you will find representative recordings of instruments and speech in different acoustic setups.

Recording room

In combination with absorbers, the HOFA Diffusor makes for balanced, spatial signals. Diffusors are highly recommended in the recording room for acoustic instruments such as percussion or guitars.

Control room

To achieve both absorption and a lively character, diffusors are used alongside absorbers in control rooms. They also help to avoid flutter echoes on plain surfaces.

Hi-fi

In hi-fi rooms, diffusors should be used as main components, as they ensure a natural and three-dimensional sound.

Frequently asked questions

How many diffusors do I need?

For “close use”, just 1 to 4 diffusors can be sufficient and help improve acoustics when recording individual instruments.

How many modules are needed in your room depends on factors such as room size, furnishings, and intended use – if you have any questions about the number or placement, just contact us or book a room acoustics planning.

Mounting on walls and ceilings is remarkably easy with the HOFA Frame. Wall mounting can also be done without the frame thanks to the integrated hanging system.

For acoustic reasons, HOFA Diffusors are made of untreated birchwood, creating a warm and lively sound. For our colored diffusors, we use a stain that preserves the wood’s surface texture.

The colored covers are made of a very thin, sound-transparent fabric that does not affect the acoustic performance of the diffusers.

With the fabric covers, you can match the color of the HOFA Diffusors to our absorbers and bass traps – or combine colors as you wish. The thin fabric of the cover does not affect the acoustic properties of the diffusor.

Simply cover your HOFA Diffusor with the fabric cover and tie the band at the back. The stretch in the fabric ensures a wrinkle-free fit. The cover is washable and can be ironed.
