Effective Sound Isolation
Our acoustic curtains ISO combine sound insulation with sound absorption. A special insulating film provides strong soundproofing, while multiple layers of heavy acoustic fabric enable efficient absorption of high and mid frequencies.
These curtains are ideal wherever acoustic separation of rooms and a reduction of reverberation time are required, such as in offices and living spaces.
Top Quality
The acoustic curtain is handmade in Germany directly at HOFA. Excellent craftsmanship and high-quality materials ensure that the curtain still looks great even after years of use. The curtain ist available with metal eyelets or curtain tape, hemmed all around, and can be used on both sides.
Acoustic curtains custom-made for you
HOFA acoustic curtains can be custom-made and installed using various mounting systems, for example, in front of windows, doors, or walls. Thanks to our in-house sewing workshop, many sizes and configurations are possible. We are also happy to accommodate personal requests.
Acoustic effectiveness
Sound-absorbing layers of heavy molleton fabric alternate with high-density acoustic films. This significantly reduces the transmission of sound.
The more layers used, the stronger the sound-isolating effect. Even the 3-layer acoustic curtain ISO achieves an impressive 11 dB sound insulation. With 7 layers, it reaches up to 17 dB.
We recommend a gathering ratio of 1.5 to 1. A curtain with a width of 150 cm perfectly covers an area of about 100 cm in width.
Frequently Asked Questions about the HOFA Acoustic Curtain ISO
What is the HOFA Acoustic Curtain ISO and what is it used for?
The HOFA Acoustic Curtain ISO is a multi-layered acoustic curtain that combines sound absorption and sound insulation. Multiple layers of heavy acoustic fabric effectively absorb mid and high frequencies, while insulating foil reduces sound transmission. This makes the curtain suitable not only for improving room acoustics but also for the acoustic separation of areas.
The HOFA Acoustic Curtain ISO is used, for example, in front of doors, windows, or passageways, as a room divider, and for the flexible separation of workspaces.
If, on the other hand, your main focus is sound absorption and reverberation time reduction, the HOFA Acoustic Curtain STUDIO is exactly right for you.
What materials are HOFA Acoustic Curtains ISO made of?
HOFA Acoustic Curtains ISO consist of multiple layers of heavy cotton molton fabric and high-density acoustic foils. The sound-absorbing molton layers primarily reduce mid and high frequencies, while the acoustic foils minimize sound transmission and thus contribute to sound insulation.
The curtains are available in the following variants:
| Variant | Layers | Basis weight |
|---|---|---|
| ISO 3 | 3 layers: fabric, foil, fabric | 1300 g/m² |
| ISO 5 | 5 layers: fabric, foil, fabric, foil, fabric | 2200 g/m² |
| ISO 7 | 7 layers: fabric, foil, fabric, foil, fabric, foil, fabric | 3100 g/m² |
The more layers the curtain has, the stronger the sound-insulating effect.
What is the noise reduction of HOFA Acoustic Curtains ISO?
The noise reduction depends on the selected variant and the installation situation. Depending on the version, HOFA Acoustic Curtains ISO achieve a sound reduction index of 11 dB to 17 dB:
- ISO 3 reduces by 11 dB
- ISO 5 reduces by 15 dB
- ISO 7 reduces by 17 dB.
The more layers the curtain has, the stronger the sound-insulating effect.
How do I achieve the best results when using a HOFA acoustic curtain?
For optimal results, the curtain should close as tightly as possible with the ceiling and floor. If used in front of a window or door, it should extend beyond the area to be covered on the left and right. In other cases, the curtain can also close as flush as possible on the sides.
Additionally, the acoustic curtain should not be pulled flat, but mounted with sufficient gathering. We recommend a fullness ratio of 1.5:1. This means: a 150 cm wide curtain covers a width of approximately 100 cm.
The actual noise reduction always depends on the installation situation on site – for example, the construction of the wall, doors, and windows, as well as gaps or other paths through which sound can be transmitted. We are happy to advise you in finding the optimal solution for using your HOFA acoustic curtain.

How do HOFA acoustic curtains differ from conventional curtains?
HOFA acoustic curtains are specifically developed to improve room acoustics. Unlike conventional curtains, they consist of particularly heavy, multi-layered fabrics that absorb sound much better. As a result, they reduce the reverberation time in the room and create a more pleasant, quieter sound environment.
One difference between HOFA acoustic curtains and many acoustic curtains from other manufacturers is the significantly higher surface weight and the effective material. Lightweight curtains with low material usage usually have only a limited acoustic effect. For a noticeable reduction in reverberation or noise, a high surface weight, a suitable multi-layered structure, and proper installation are crucial.
HOFA acoustic curtains are also available in two variants:
The HOFA Acoustic Curtain STUDIO is developed for maximum reverberation time reduction and has a high absorption coefficient.
The HOFA Acoustic Curtain ISO combines reverberation time reduction with sound insulation, and thanks to the integrated ISO foil, it has excellent sound-insulating properties.
Can the curtain be equipped with an additional outer fabric or edge and grip protection?
Yes, we are happy to supply your curtain with custom edge protection or grip protection. We use durable synthetic leather in the color of your choice as the material. Additionally, we can use your preferred fabric as an outer layer.
You can design a curtain with edge or grip protection according to your preferences in our Acoustic Curtain Configurator.
For custom outer fabrics or any other requests, please contact us directly.
Does the HOFA acoustic curtain also have a blackout effect?
Yes, thanks to the thick layers of fabric, HOFA acoustic curtains also have a darkening effect.
For particularly high levels of blackout, we can equip your acoustic curtain with an additional dimout layer. Please use our Acoustic Curtain Configurator for this.
Does the curtain also protect against heat and cold?
Yes, due to the number of layers and the thick molton fabric, the curtain also ensures that the warmth stays in during the winter and the heat stays out in the summer.
How are HOFA acoustic curtains mounted, and where can I get the appropriate mounting hardware?
HOFA acoustic curtains are manufactured with either eyelets or curtain tape. Curtains with eyelets can be hung on a matching curtain rod. Curtains with curtain tape are suitable for mounting on a curtain track.
You can get the appropriate accessories for wall or ceiling mounting directly in the HOFA Shop or the Acoustic Curtain Configurator. There you will find various curtain rods, curtain tracks, and other mounting hardware. If you have any questions about the right fastening, we will be happy to advise you personally.
Are HOFA acoustic curtains flame-retardant?
The curtain is made of flame-retardant materials in accordance with DIN 4102/B1. For further details, please contact us.
Where are the HOFA acoustic curtains manufactured?
HOFA acoustic curtains are manufactured in our own sewing workshop in Southern Germany. Through regional production, we avoid long transport routes and can produce in a particularly resource-saving manner.
Another advantage: We manufacture the curtains individually according to customer requests. This allows us to flexibly accommodate custom sizes and special requirements.
